What our first email interactions were like on Match.com?
I found Monica's profile by searching my zip code and age in Match.com. Monica had a very cute picture of herself that caught my attention. When I read her profile I saw that she liked to do the same kind of things that I did.
Exercise Cooking Laughing Going to concerts
...and much more.
This is what helped me figure out what to say in my first email to her. Since I saw that Monica liked going to concerts I used that as one of the main topics in my first email to her. Here is an example of what I said to Monica in that first email:
Hi Monica,
I was looking at your profile and I noticed that we have a lot in common. You mention that you enjoy going to a lot of concerts. This is one of my favorite things to do. My friends and I just got back from a weekend trip to Pittsburgh to see the Dave Matthews Band. It was a great concert. Are you a Dave Matthews fan? I also enjoy going to rock concerts. I just saw Tool last year and Sebastion Bach came in town to play a small show recently. Right during one of my favorite songs, Sebastion reached out and gave me a high five. That made my day!
Well, if you would like to get to know each other better, email back.
I look forward to your response! John
See how this worked? I looked at her profile and found something in common with her. Then I used that as material in my email. It turns out that Monica also loves the Dave Matthews Band, she just saw a concert the previous year. She also laughed at the Sebastion Bach high five encounter and replied with a story about Iggy Pop jumping into the crowd and touching Monica's head. As silly as these stories are, they allowed the ice to be broken and allowed two people who didn't previously know each other to become acquainted.
